A month ago we thought spring was just around the corner, my flowers started to blossom, the sun was shining, the weather was finally warmer and then April decided it was time for rain. Rain. So much rain. All the rain. And wind of course. In Athens this month, we ended up having six hours of winter and six hours of spring.
Due to the bad weather, our vacation, one we were looking forward to, was cancelled, but I can’t say I’m too sad about it since we were here when our house was flooded because of a broken flusher at the apartment upstairs.
I also got Achilles tendinitis on my right ankle that got better before getting worse, leaving me stranded at home with a very bad mood and two cuddly, but very energetic cats for a couple of weeks. My studying is behind, my writing is behind, my life is very behind and all I want to do is curl up under the covers and wait for everything to catch up on their own.
Whining time over.
On the bright side, I managed to reach 31k words on my flower story and plot a completely new arc in it (with new characters, setting, etc) that I realized it was missing in order for this story to feel complete. I intended to start working on it as soon as I grasp the feeling of the characters and their world, but the truth is, that I’m not going to do that unless I do start writing.
I’m also about to start reading the third book in the Broken Earth Trilogy by N.K. Jemisin, The Stone Sky. Those books are incredible. The worldbuilding is wonderful and the characters are all so real and distinct, it’s difficult not to root for every single one of them. I’m glad I still have one book to read in this world, but I’m also sad because I only have one book to read in this world.
All in all, I’m ready to get back in the game and start moving forward again!
Have a great time this Easter, be kind and don’t forget to be hopeful!
