Camp Nano Finished

As predicted, Camp Nano finished without me succeeding to reach my goal. I would say I’m totally fine with it, but I’m not. Not because I didn’t win, but because I didn’t make the progress that I wanted on my book.

Overall, I finished camp with 13k. It’s a bit less than half of it, which is okay, considering that I didn’t intend to reach 30k to begin with. On one hand, it’s 13k words more on the book I’ve been working on; on the other, practically camp nano had no difference whatsoever on my motivation, and that’s the part that sucks. Meh.

The good thing is that this month, apart from writing this draft exclusively, I also worked on a pet project with my best friend. We did it just for fun – still do, but it felt so good to be reminded that writing doesn’t have to have an end goal but for putting the story onto paper, see where the characters go and how they grow and, you know, tell a story to yourself, for you.

It’s just words and fun and a story that will never see the light of the day but it’s so damn important to me because I’m sharing it -and all the process- with a person I deeply love and I enjoy writing with.

So, all in all, maybe Camp Nano wasn’t a success, but I consider this month closing at 21k, with my interest for an old story revived, and the progress on my first draft constant, a success.

July, dude, with all your 40°C outside right now, you were fun. ^^
